Tutorial Rooms

Purpose

Tutorial rooms are small to medium-sized teaching spaces designed to support interactive learning, discussions, tutorials, workshops, seminars and small-group activities. These spaces should foster collaboration, participation and engagement while providing a flexible, inclusive and technology-enabled environment that supports a variety of teaching and learning approaches across USP campuses.

 

Design Objectives

​Tutorial rooms should:

• Support discussion-based, collaborative and student-centred learning activities.

• Provide flexible furniture arrangements that can be easily reconfigured to suit different teaching and learning formats.

• Encourage interaction between students and teaching staff through room layouts that promote engagement and communication.

• Incorporate appropriate audio-visual and information technology systems to support presentations, hybrid learning and group activities.

• Ensure accessibility and inclusivity for all users.

• Provide clear sightlines to teaching surfaces, presentation screens and facilitators.

• Maintain comfortable lighting, acoustics, ventilation and thermal conditions that support concentration and effective communication.

• Use durable, maintainable and sustainable materials suitable for high-use educational environments.

• Accommodate future changes in teaching methods, technology and learning requirements.
